The BTF Birmingham Open is always a fun competition to attend. This time was no exception with success in both Veteran Male Patterns and -80kg Veteran Male Sparring.
One of the amusing coincidences of the competition was the success for people named "Reuben". Not only did I achieve Gold medals in both areas of competition, sparring and patterns, but Reuben Williams also achieved Gold in both the Adult Male Patterns and the Adult Male -71kg Sparring.

The BTF Birmingham Open is a great competition to attend if it is your first time at a tournament. Many of my students will try out competition for the first time at this event. This is very much down to the positive atmosphere at the event every year as a result of the great bunch of people who attend but also because of the competition hosts. I especially look forward to the food available to officials at lunchtime, it is always delicious.
